Both of these projects were incredibly rewarding to design and we are honored to be recognized.
The Arkansas Symphony Orchestra Stella Boyle Smith Music Center is a radically-welcoming hub of musical activity for all Arkansans, serving youth and adults of all ages with an array of musical offerings. The building provides access to music education, music performances, and music making to residents of all corners of the state through new spaces and a broadcast and recording studio. The new music center boasts contemporary features for children and adults that participate in programs, including music classrooms and practice spaces, ensuring a conducive environment for musical growth and creativity. The space includes Morgan Hall, which serves as a versatile space for rehearsals and concerts, fostering an immersive musical experience. It is truly a beautiful place to make music.
WER Architects, in association with CRTKL, designed a new multi-purpose laboratory and office complex for the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture in Northeast Arkansas. The mission of the Northeast Rice Research and Extension Center (NERREC) is to discover and develop innovative, efficient rice production practices, using genetically diverse and adapted cultivars, to maximize net return for Arkansas rice producers, and to provide extension-based education/outreach to the public on the value of Arkansas rice in a sustainable ecosystem. The design of the building allows for the public entry to be framed with the office wing with labs to one side, and the education corridor and classrooms to the other.
