Timber Frame Workshop

Students and instructors gathered together in Canehill this week to restore the Historic Colburn Barn. We are so proud to be a part of this incredible project, and that John Greer, Mason Ellis and Lucas Strack have all gotten to experience such a unique and hands on architectural project.

Historic Cane Hill recently acquired the structure and is partnering with the Timber Framers Guild and the Heartwood School on a seven-day timber framing restoration course to restore the barn to be used in Historic Cane Hill's educational and historic preservation programming. Twelve students from across the country have gathered in Canehill to receive hands-on experience in functional repairs and laying out replacement timbers using the 'Old School Mill Rule' techniques that are thought to have been used when the barn was originally constructed.
