Arkansas State Crime Laboratory Groundbreaking
The Arkansas State Crime Laboratory is set to embark on a transformative expansion with the construction of a new state of the art forensic science facility in North Little Rock. We celebrated at the 19-acre site in the Northshore Business Park with a groundbreaking ceremony.
The three-story building will encompass approximately 190,000 square feet. This comprehensive facility will house advanced laboratories, a modern medical examiner’s office, vehicle inspection areas, administrative offices, and various supporting spaces.
With a construction budget of $200 million, the new crime lab will enhance forensic capabilities across the state. The project is a major investment in public safety, scientific innovation and justice for all Arkansans.
WER Architects, in partnership with MWL, led the design of the new Arkansas Crime Laboratory. It has been designed to meet a growing demand for forensic science services in our state. The new lab will not only accommodate current demands but also provide room for future growth, ensuring that the laboratory continues to deliver vital forensic sciences to the people of Arkansas.
Along with WER and MWL, Insight Engineering and Cromwell are providing engineering services and Nabholz is the contractor.
