WER Architects/Planners Receives OUTSTANDING PROJECT Award and National Recognition for the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith Student Recreation & Wellness Center

Cleveland, OH – October 1, 2017 – WER Architects/Planners has received an OUTSTANDING PROJECT Award for excellence in educational facility design in the fall 2017 edition of LEARNING BY DESIGN, the premier source for education design innovation and excellence. The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Student Recreation & Wellness Center has been recognized by Learning By Design magazine for its architectural and interior design and for having benchmark type attributes worthy of imitation.

LEARNING BY DESIGN’s distinguished Fall 2017 jury of six architects and end-user’s applauded WER Architects/Planners for its accomplishment in designing the The University of Arkansas – Fort Smith Student Recreation & Wellness Center. All projects included in this edition are all peer-reviewed. The jury discusses and looks for in each project unique and or new concepts being implemented to improve education facility building design. Projects are scored on six measures: Innovation, Community Need, Interior Design, Sustainability, Functional Design, and 21st Century Learning. The Jury comments about this project include: “Good follow-through on providing an open and connected facility. Like the use of natural light to promote health along with vertical spaces to create active areas.”
