The American Society of Interior Designers (ASID) South Central Chapter held its annual meeting this week. The WER team was honored to receive seven ASID awards this year, including the 2013 Ovation Award for the Southwest Power Pool Campus Break Room.

The Associated Builders and Contractors of Arkansas recognized the state’s top merit shop construction projects during its Excellence in Construction Awards celebration.

Charles Witsell, WER founder, and Gordon Wittenberg have written a book that profiles many of the Little Rock architectural landmarks and the stories behind them.

The Trojan Grill on the University of Arkansas at Little Rock campus, has received LEED Silver certification. Trojan Grill is the first LEED registered retail space in Arkansas.

WER is pleased to announce that the Southern Arkansas University Science and Technology Center is the 2013 recipient of the ASHRAE Regional Technology Award. 

Congratulations to WER’s Director of Interiors, Toni Wyre, on being selected as one of Arkansas Business Publishing Group’s top 40 business professionals under the age of 40 in the state of Arkansas. Toni joined WER in 2009 and has received over 30 regional interior design awards, 15 of which have included WER projects. We are so proud of you, Toni!

Lauren Mesker, Interiors Assistant, has been been promoted to Interior Designer. Lauren joined WER as a summer intern and was hired full time to the interior design department in October 2012. Lauren has been working alongside fellow designers at WER on projects ranging from college dormitories to office renovations. Lauren graduated from the University of Central Arkansas with a Bachelors of Arts, emphasis in Interior Design.

WER Architects/Planners is pleased to announce that project designer, Mason Ellis, has passed the ARE exams and is a licensed architect. Mason joined WER in 2006 to gain experience in all aspects of the design process with a special interest in WER’s Restoration work.

John Greer, Jr., WER Architects/Planners Principal, named the 2013 Board President for HPAA-Historic Preservation Alliance of Arkansas. The Historic Preservation Alliance of Arkansas has been a statewide voice for preservation in Arkansas for over twenty-five years.

Wes Garrett, AIA, has joined the WER Architects/Planners team as a project architect. As an Architect with twenty-three years experience, Wes brings a “broad-brush” approach to design and architecture.

WER Architects has promoted Jerome Sorensen, AIA, CSI, LEED AP and Toni Wyre, ASID, ASRID, LEED AP to associate level positions in the firm.

Historic Preservation Alliance of Arkansas (HPAA) awarded WER Architects “Excellence in Preservation through Rehabilitation” for eSTEM High Public Charter School. Designed in the Neo Classical style and built in 1924, the Federal Reserve Bank Building in Little Rock, Arkansas was repurposed to provide a full functioning charter High School for 500 students in grades nine through twelve.

WER Architects/Planners has received the Quapaw Quarter Association “Award of Merit” for eSTEM High Public Charter School in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Toni Wyre, ASID, ASRID, LEED AP, WER Director of Interiors, received a Presidential Citation from the ASID Little Rock District Chapter for “Distinguished Service to the Society and the Profession”.
