James Meyer, AIA, WER Associate, attended the 2014 AIA Gulf States Emerging Professional Symposium this past November in New Orleans. WER Architects/Planners is pleased to announce that James Meyer, AIA, LEED AP, has been selected by The American Institute of Architects to receive the 2015 Young Architects Award.

We are excited to announce that Mason Ellis, AIA, LEED AP has been selected to join the Leadership Greater Little Rock class. Since 1985, Leadership Greater Little Rock has graduated over 1,300 community leaders, including a future secretary of state, president pro tempore of the senate, Adjutant General of the Arkansas National Guard and two university presidents

WER project architect, James Meyer, penned the article Pop Up In The Rock: Improving Your City One Weekend At A Timefor the latest issue of Blueprint magazine. The article discusses the changing perspectives of what makes a city great and how the Pop Up In The Rock event is helping communities visualize these changes.

WER Architects/Planners is pleased to announce that project designer, James Meyer, has passed the ARE exams and is a licensed architect.

Architects of Little Rock: 1833–1950, is being released today. The book is co-written by Little Rock architects,
Charles Witsell and Gordon Wittenberg and 
edited by Marylyn Jackson Parins. Architects of Little Rock provides biographical and historical sketches of the architects at work in Little Rock from 1833 to 1950.

WER Architects is excited to announce that Conway High School was awarded with a 2014 Learning By Design Outstanding Project Award. WER designed and completed Conway High School in two phases, all built on the existing site of the school.

David Sargent joined WER Architects/Planners in 1986 and was named CEO in 2006. Many of his projects have received awards, including being a part of the team that won a National AIA Design Award for the Clinton Presidential Center.

The new Southwest Power Pool Corporate Headquarters was awarded Gold level of certification through the U.S. Green Building Council’s (USGBC) Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program. The Southwest Power Pool Corporate Campus is the 33rd Gold LEED Certification in the state of Arkansas.

H. Terry Rasco, FAIA, Executive Chairman of WER Architects/Planners (Witsell Evans & Rasco) has retired as of October 1, completing a 42 year architectural career, and 30 years – to the day – as a principal in the firm he formed with Charles Witsell, FAIA, and Don Evans, AIA.

James Meyer, Associate AIA, was awarded the AIA Emerging Professional Award at the 2013 AIA Convention this past weekend. This award recognizes a new professional who has expanded the role of the architect through civic participation and professional mentorship, thereby representing the goals of AIA to a larger audience.

Mason Ellis, WER Architects/Planners architect, gave a presentation yesterday at a press conference for a proposed multi-use trail to link Little Rock to Hot Springs along an abandoned rail line.

Each year, around 50 class members are selected from hundreds of applicants to participate in the nine-month program. The class meets at a different Central Arkansas venue to explore topics through expert speakers, panelists, tours and group presentations.
